Natural language processing in-and-for design research

Abstract We review the scholarly contributions that utilise natural language processing (NLP) techniques to support design process. Using a heuristic approach, we gathered 223 articles are published in 32 journals within period 1991–present. present state-of-the-art NLP in-and-for research by reviewing these according type of text sources: internal reports, concepts, discourse transcripts, technical publications, consumer opinions and others. Upon summarising identifying gaps contributions, an existing innovation framework identify applications currently being supported NLP. then propose few methodological theoretical directions for future research.
